Do you think the magus spoke the truth before he died? It is possible the creature lied in its death throes, as is the way of Tzeentch. If what the creature said was true then a greater daemon of Tzeentch feeds upon the souls of soldiers of the Empire, trapped in time, higher up in the pass. You must rally the forces of Order and push to this location, no matter the cost.
