The Magisters of the Colleges are well aware of the ancient evil of the Mourkain Empire, an evil which has poisoned this land for an age. We were sent here because that ancient evil is stirring, threatening us all. Perhaps you could go and have look in our stead? If you could ascertain the nature of the power that lies within that tomb, we can better prepare to deal with the threat. You will want to ward yourself against evil if you intend to open a sealed Mourkain sarcophagus. Here, take my pendant. It has lost some of its power in my battle with the ghouls, but if you defeat the skeletons beyond the Tar Pits, their essence should be captured by the pendant and restore its power. It will keep you safe.

Go beyond the Tar Pits and destroy Skeletal Prospectors and Engineers. Check Lankdorf's Pendant to see if you have empowered it back to its full strength. It should glow vibrantly purple when it has captured enough of Shyish's essence.
