Yet, if you believe this, he appears have proved his theory. It says here that Damgul obtained funding from a Dwarf named Snorri Blackmane and was able to locate a previously undiscovered vein of gold in the caverns west of here. He was gathering the gear needed to delve for the gold when the tower was overrun. He includes the instructions for his device, if you obtain these materials I could build one for you.

Gunnolf Geirgnash wants you to gather the materials needed for him to build the Fortune Finder. Search the nearby towers in Echo Bluff for the raw materials and bring them back to Gunnolf at Oathgrund's Watch.
