We must preserve the pelt from putrification. To do this you have to lay the pelt down on a flat surface with the fur facing down. Then you will have to rub the curing salt onto the pelt and allow the salt to absorb the moisture. While the salt does its work, you should not waste time and scour the rolling hills of Chrace for the Starsilk flower for its seeds, we will need them later.

Lay the pelt on the Tanning Bench by selecting the Tanning Bench and then right clicking the Lonemane's Pelt in your quest inventory. Then right click the Curing Salts to apply them to the pelt. While the curing salts absorb the moisture, you should look around Chrace for Starsilk flower seeds. The Chracian Hunter said that there should be some flowers along the path to Elisia. Return to the Chracian Hunter with the seeds.
