I cannot say for certain what is the root of this energy of death, I had been studying it before you idiotically plunged your blade into it and severed the bond with its master. Much could have been learned but now the opportunity is lost. Perhaps it has something to do with the conflux of the energies of the two moons Mannslieb and Morrslieb. The men of the Empire worship a god called Morr who seems to protect the dead. Coincidentally there used to be a monastery of his north in Troll Country which we passed on the way south. It is in ruins now, but it still holds power. Not far from here is a crypt full of old bones and caches of weapons. Plunder a skull from a ransacked coffin and lob it into a brazier at this monastery of Morr. The desecration of bones will do great harm to the power of this god. Also, I saw a smaller tendril of this death energy spiral from a tomb near Kinschel’s Stronghold. Perhaps you can redeem yourself and learn something about this death energy there. Just don’t go plunging your sword into whatever you find this time.

You have been tasked with stealing a skull from a ransacked coffin in the Crypt of Weapons and throwing this skull into a brazier of Morr. Afterwards look for a source of death magic within a tomb by Kinschel’s Stronghold.
